Paddy McGuinness reaches Blackpool in epic BBC Children in Need cycle challenge
The presenter was joined by dozens of cyclists who flanked him down the Promenade
Paddy McGuinness was joined on his epic cycle challenge by Blackpool cyclists as he headed down the Prom.
The Radio 2 presenter is attempting to cycle almost 300 miles from Wrexham to Glasgow on a Raleigh Chopper for Children in Need.
He reached Blackpool during Tuesday lunchtime on the second leg of his five-part challenge.
Tuesday is his longest day as he takes on a 68-mile stint which began at Preston and will finish at Kendal.
He joined Jeremy Vine live on the radio as he reached Blackpool to discuss the support he received as crowds packed the Prom.
Speaking to Zoe Ball on the Radio 2 Breakfast show during Tuesday morning, Paddy said: “I realised, it dawned on me, because I’ve got a blister on my right bum cheek, which isn’t the best, but it really dawned on me I feel really lucky, actually like I’ve dropped the lottery because when I set off yesterday, with the first 30 miles, I don’t think there was a bit where there wasn’t somebody on the road, and that’s 30 miles!
"And then it started getting dark, it went into the night and people were still lining the streets, and I just thought, who gets a chance to do this and you’ve got the added bonus of raising money for Children in Need at the same time. So I feel really lucky, really privileged and my legs are still working so all good Zoe.”
